Applying the Foundation

Step One: Using Foundation Foundation should make your skin look smooth, even toned and beautiful. It also acts as a canvas for the rest of your makeup. Foundations come in a variety of formulas and colors. Choosing the right formulas and color for your skin, and for the effect you want to achieve is very important. Liquid Foundations: Liquid foundations typically are water based and can be applied onto the skin easily using a sponge or foundation brush. Always check to make sure you choose the right formula for your skin type. Moisturizing formulas work best with dry skin, oil free is best for oily skin. Also, look for foundations that provide a sunscreen protection from the sunĂ‚’s harmful UV rays. Cake Foundation: This type of foundation usually has powder added to the formula to help control shine. Cake foundations can be applied with either a damp or dry sponge, or a foundation brush. It is suited for all skin types, and can be applied quickly. Concealer or Eye Foundations: Concealers are used to help even out the skin tone around the eye area and provide a canvas for eye shadows. They also help eye shadows stay on longer and prevent creasing. Applying Foundation: 1. Keep your hair off your face with a headband or by tying it back. Cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face and neck thoroughly. Let dry fiveminutess. 2. Place a small dab of liquid foundation on the back of your hand, or up the cake foundation on the back of your hand to melt it just a little. Using your sponge or foundation brush, dab a very small amount into the foundation. Using gentle stokes cover the larger areas of your face (cheeks, forehead, t-zone) following their natural contours. Blend well down under the jaw line and onto the neck, and around the hairline. Be sure to check for any unevenness around the nose and eye area. If using a sponge with the cake foundation, do not forget to squeeze out excess water. The more water you leave in the sponge, the lighter the effect of the foundation will be; the drier the sponge, the heavier the effect will be.
